A real highlight of the EP, Life Under, is featured first. Beautiful deep grooves are the highlight here, as smooth baselines bobble in the background, all while smooth vocal samples meet delicate echoing effects and crisp tribal beats. A very nice smooth production to kick off the EP.
On the flip is Mute, and this is where the beats get darker. The drums are quite tribal based, and they begin the track and are shortly joined by a simply evil baseline that really drives the track in the right direction. Very big and chunky, the low end sounds dominate this fine production until it is saved from total darkness by a breakdown deep into the track that sees nice melodic tones create a smooth break. It doesn’t last long though as we are thrusted back into the deep baselines.
A pretty solid release here and a release that has the sounds of John Digweed stamped all over it really. Solid chunky house music really, and you can’t ask for much more then that.
