Midnight Blue - Blessed

  • The duo of Midnight Blue consists of Alexander Church and Joshua Cantrell, two producers that have had release on labels such as Dorigen and Midnight Recordings. This time they team up to deliver Blessed on the Source of Gravity imprint. The Original Mix on the a-side is quite a smooth progressive production. Deep chunky beats caressed by a smooth subtle baseline build the track up in the first few minutes, and the track continues to build with good atmosphere, largely created by the smooth vocals and little trickling melodies. Following this is the Blind Faith Reprise V1 that features smooth baselines, vocal cuts, and slow melodic Latin vibes. On the flip, Jay Welshgets his grips with a remix that intensifies the pace of the original. The beats get a little more upbeat, combined with a baseline that is decidedly chunkier. The guitar riffs certainly play a more vital role in this mix, and they help in making this production quite the solid piece of work that it is. The Blind Faith Reprise V2 follows this, and it is another smooth ambient reworking, using the baselines yet again combined with some subtle hi hats and effected vocal patterns. This is a pretty nice release from Source of Gravity, with the smooth Original Mix combining well with a more peak time and dance floor friendly remix from Perfecto man, Jay Welsh.
