Detailed minimal house, Sydney style.
While touring in Australia, the Ukrainian producer and Modeight Records head Silat Beksi revealed that Sydney's own David Harman, AKA Venda, would supply his label's next release. The Ovio EP sees the Aussie prove himself as a skilled producer with great control of his synthesisers. Each sound has been carefully crafted and drawn from a colourful sonic palette. The first track, "Swept Away By The Stream Of Time," is like an octopus touching many soundscapes and textures at once, but without sounding too loaded or pretentious. Although its snares are always locked in place, "Ovio" isn't a typical four-on-the-floor track. Its swung, heavily reverbed bass gives it a distinct groove that's great to mix into DJ sets. This EP suggests that Sydney has something to add to the world of modern, minimal club music.
