Adventurous techno on an NTS resident's new label.
The B-side, "Successor Project," introduces some new ideas. There's an uncharacteristically stiff kick drum, which adds a different dimension to Mars89's usually swung approach. It canes a ragga sample (from Code 071's proto-jungle "A London Sumtin'") until the voice becomes delirious, but the best part comes when Mars89 lets the breaks fly in the second half. Add in the low, brassy synths and you have something unique: a hardcore techno track that moves like jungle.
