  • This is a record with a pretty unusual back-story. Ixindamix is a long-term affiliate of Spiral Tribe, a legendary soundsystem that put on parties across Europe in the 1990s. These tracks were all originally released in the mid-00s at about 30 BPM higher than they are here, reflecting the harder, faster sound of the underground free party scene at that time. The tracks were discovered a few years ago by the Libertine boss Yoshi, who slowed and tweaked two of them into edits that would fit into his own sets. (Ixindamix contributes her own mix of "Kryptonex.") "Passanger," which has been played by Binh and Nicolas Lutz, is the standout. It's a track that evolves through sections of breakbeat and wonky techno before finishing with a rowdy hardcore bassline. It also samples the bells from The Prodigy’s "Out Of Space," one of the most recognizable riffs in dance music. But it's energetic and unpredictable enough to pull it off.
