Experimental club music with feeling.
Dirty K - Impression Nanjing's Dirty K moves away from the clanging experimental sound of Genome 6.66 Mbp, the label releasing his second EP, to focus on melody and softer, more tactile textures. The music is still restless, but it flows smoothly. Take "Impression," a collaboration with Jinan's LJC and the standout on Dirty K's new Panorama EP. What starts out like Kuedo-style trap, all translucent '80s pads and springy drums, turns into baroque piano. The second mood swing is even more stunning. "Impression" is a rare experimental club track holding rhythm, instrumentation and melody in balance. As the rest of the record proves, anyone into cutting-edge club music should follow what's going on in China.
