Rich and percussive, here's a taste of the sound of Nepal.
Among Nepal's latest crop of producers is Prasidha Yonzon, a producer who's been making music as YNZN.P for just over five years. He grew up in Patan, south of Kathmandu, and his work picks up where scene legends like Ankytrixx and Ranzen Jha left off. Yonzon's debut EP, How About That, is a mix of chopped sounds, samples and percussion. One highlight is "Dirty Swing Thing," which is undercut by an ethereal drone. It's melodic but stays grounded thanks to drums that cushion your ears. The title track is more straightforward, with samples that evoke a sense of calm. The EP is concise but filled with fresh ideas. Hopefully it inspires other Nepalese producers.
