- On My Way is inspired by landmarks in the San Francisco Bay Area, and Lara Sarkissian and 8ULENTINA's experiences traveling back and forth across the bay to see each other. Appropriately, they meet in the middle of their approaches, programming drums that skip and dance through the bars rather than sticking to any rigid pattern. 8ULENTINA's "Bert's Renegades" is a highlight, with a climbing string motif and expressive woodwinds. Sarkissian's "Escape From Two Eighty" is equally bewitching, starting with the sound of revving motorcycles before building up into glittering trance.
When the duo aren't laying down twitchy rhythms, they're exploring more meditative spaces. Anyone who enjoyed Sarkissian's Peninsula will find much to love in "La Playa / Great Highway Midnight." The roaring basslines and the nimble strings make for pure dance floor abandon, capturing the unpredictable fluidity and openness that runs through everything the Club Chai crew does.
