Paul Davis - On The Razz / E.M.P

  • The next release on the Ku De Ta imprint comes from the label manager Paul Davis, and after his first release on the label which was caned by the likes of Pete Tong and Steve Lawler, Paul will be looking to deliver once more with two new tracks. First up is On The Razz and it clear to see why the likes of Steve Lawler will be interested in this sound. The drums are quite tribal, but once the baseline kicks in, the track becomes very sinister and evil, and that is the way many of us like it. The twisted effects that come in late on also help to create the unique vibe this track has, and make it the solid cut that it is. On the flip is E.M.P, and it begins with a very big kick drum that is soon joined by some intricate tribal drums. A bouncy baseline helps create the groove early on but for me the track lacks the intrigue and interest that the a-side delivered. A pretty good release here by Paul Davis, with the a-side for me providing a good highlight.
