Narcotic Thrust – When the Dawn Breaks

  • Narcotic Thrust are here with their 3rd release on Yoshitoshi as they continue to provide big tracks with great cross-over ability. Mark Night & Martijn Ten Veldon are called up again to deliver a vocal and dub mix while Behrouz adds his own reworking. Starting off with the Original, it delivers a solid house groove with jumping bass drums, catchy basslines and synths. The mellow vocal flows smoothly with sustained synths and epic breakdowns. A huge stabbing synth is introduced when the track gets into full effect and is devastating. Behrouz turns in a sultry piece of remixing as smooth beats and a brilliant quirky, bumpy bassline fulfil pure house delights. The subtle percussion is really effective with the gentle, low vocal and simple beats. Midway through the mix, Behrouz unleashes some brilliant piano work, utilising a more freestyle arrangement and gives flight to the build. Great track with great feeling. The vocal mix by Mark Night & Martijn Ten Veldon takes on a more synthesised feel with dirty electro hooks and a squelching bassline. The vocal is meshed nicely with the stabs of the melody which is relentless throughout the mix. A nice mix of electro type hooks and stabs keep things fresh and gives the track a slightly effected feel. A very quirky remix and done well. The Mark Night & Martijn Ten Veldon dub mix takes out the vocal of course but lets the original electro elements take control, letting the senses be overwhelmed by some great production work. A very impressive package here from Yoshitoshi as they set their own bar higher with each release. The original supplies that commercial acceptance but it’s the remixes that are the goods here. Can’t say enough for Behrouz’s remix and Mark & Martijn can do no wrong at the moment.
