Infusion - Girls Can Be Cruel (Remixes Part 2)

  • Disc two in the two-part package for Infusion’s remix of Girls Can Be Cruel for Audio Therapy. Here we see the King Unique and Dylan Rhymes mixes. Dylan Rhymes’ Dub kicks into gear with a one-two combo of breaks and flippy percussions that’ll make your head all wobbly after this experience. Wild guitar riffs rock the house down, and mean green breakbeats roaming all five channels, giving you no escape. You’ll find that Rhymes’ Dub goes more into the Rock inspired electronic soundscapes more so than KU’s interpretation. Then comes Rhymes’ Remix, and your senses are telling you to listen to the electro-ish vocals that screams of danger coming for you. Slightly tweaked, the remix is on par, if not above the dub in respect, though the vocals don’t fit in with the mood too much. It’s hard to pick one of the two Rhymes’ mixes as each one has its appeal, but vocals do add an extra element that can’t be found in instrumentals. Rhymes’ shows why he is one of breakbeats standout producers with his remixes. However, burdening the responsibility to re-create something fresh and new, the boys look back for guidance, and it pays off big time. This is the one – The King Unique Mix is where your money must go to. An homage to ‘70s funky guitar riffs and ‘80s synth-pop, you can’t get groovier than this. Nearly crossing over the line to commercial pop as the mix clearing is aimed towards a mass-audience with the remix a full-on vox version compared to their “Danger Dub.” Matt and Matthew shoulder the remix package with their remix, and they pull it off with ease. Clearly the stronger disc of the two with one of the most rockin’ness remixes to 2005 by King Unique.
