None other than Lucien ‘Luciano’ Nicolet is at the controls for ‘430U’. The untitled A-side sees the moustachioed Chilean take a languid, mournful vocal from Mercedes Sosa and wrap it around one of his quintessentially sharp, shape-shifting rhythm tracks – really breathtaking stuff that manages to be complex and reflective without compromising dancefloor appeal. The other side of this limited 12” rests on an altogether more unexpected sample – Pharrell’s imploring, multi-tracked vocal from N*E*R*D’s ‘Maybe’. Master of groove that he is, Luciano manages to make the Neptune heart’s outpouring fit a bumping, edit-heavy 4x4 backing as if it were God’s own intention
Two sides of unmissable dancefloor snap, crackle and pop from contemporary house music’s brightest star.
