- The original of “Die Gruenschenkel In Blauen Priel” is a stripped down straight ahead techno track in the vein of vintage Plus 8. Both the 2000 And One and Super Flu remixes bring the sound back into the here and now and their efforts should delight those looking to lose their minds on the dance floor.
First up is Dutch techno veteran 2000 and One, who’s been around since the early '90s but has recently had a renaissance with support coming from the current German techno scene. His remix is a proper techno workout, starting things off with an epic building introduction which doesn’t see the bass drop for a good minute or two. A swarm-like stabbing synth pervades throughout, growing in intensity as the song progresses. The underlying tribal rhythm is reminiscent of the new Gabriel Ananda, and keeps things rolling along nicely. Although perhaps a bit on the conventional side using all the tricks in the book to work the crowd into a lather with the teasing build and drop, you can’t really fault 2000 and One as it is done to great effect. The track rolls and rolls and serves one purpose only, to make you move your feet.
If the original ‘Gruenschenkel’ sounds like vintage Plus 8, then Super Flu’s version would fit perfectly with modern day M_nus, sandwiched somewhere between Troy Pierce’s ‘25 Bitches’ and Gaiser’s “Neural Block.” The track shimmies and shakes, never static, with boundless energy. The popping drum pattern leads the charge, while the stabbing synth rears its evil little head again. It’s quite straightforward, lacking the intricacies that both Gaiser and Troy Pierce can provide, but still it will do the trick on the dance floor when you’re ready to shift things into fifth gear.
Overall, these are two strong tracks that will go down a treat in any high octane techno set. As a bonus they are varied enough that they could even be played back to back.
