Desire - Dave Seaman

  • Superbly put together and jammed full of atmosphere, ‘Renaissance Desire’ is one prog house compilation that can’t be overlooked. Dave Seaman is a true talent when it comes to DJing; his performances are always of the highest quality, but it’s his ability to add texture into his sets and to create moods which are all too easy and enjoyable to embrace that really stand out the most. Both of his CD's are so involving they are so hard to describe words that come to mind are... energetic, vibrant, absorbing and well damn right brilliant. Disc one is a house-orientated set that still retains the trance elements that Dave’s more commonly know for. Uplifting ingredients collide with tribal drums for an out-and-out battle between lighter and darker moods. Ashley Beedle, François K, Pete Heller and Science Department (Danny Howells and Dick Trevor) provide some truly superb house outings that have plenty of life in them. The later part of the set leans much more towards a progressive trance sound, Dave dishing up numbers from X-Press 2, Pappa & Gilby and Tom Middleton, Tom’s remix of ‘Ruhe’ adding a lighter twist to the end of a great first disc. However, if you think the quality stops there, you’ve got another thing coming, because Dave’s put together an even better session on disc two. Straight away, he drops a fantastic number in the form of Loafer’s ‘Travelogue’ which has already been devastating dance floors on a global scale. To say this track is atmospheric would be an understatement. Track two is yet another blinding cut, this time from favoured prog stars Sasha and Quivver, yet again there’s plenty of atmosphere in this dark and twisted little number. Work from James Holden, Slacker, Digby and Oliver, Junkie XL and Praha are just some of the highlights that await you, but it’s Jimmy Van M and Way Out West who really add the more noticeable numbers in the second half of disc two. Renaissance is a brand that can always be relied upon to deliver the goods, Dave Seaman’s dished up a compilation that is more than worthy of a place in your rack. CD1 01.
