Sascha Dive: Tiger Full Moon Party

  • Neither snow, nor rain, nor heat, nor gloom of night stands in the Mono_cult brigade's way of throwing a shindig. The question is never if. The question is: What limits do these boys from Leeds have? Over the past year or so, Mono_cult has been pleasuring ears with a fashionable rhythm of minimal and techno in all areas of the LS1 region, and gathered a lot of followers after their hugely successful Easter bash at The Faversham with Jay Haze. (Their recent Sonar success was just another in a long line of them.) With the lads opting to continue to operate in the niche of the ever-saturated Leeds market, it was hardly surprising to find they chose Sascha Dive, one of the deepest heads in the techno genre, to head up their latest party. Dive seemed a particularly fitting option, as The Faversham is an open club/bar/arena/terrace, great for the type of soulful beats Dive is known for. In fact, the only thing wrong with the outside terrace at Dive's recent appearance was the décor—brought to us by Tiger. They should stick to making beer, methinks. Sharp tones, snazzy and fashionable chords with a slightly euphoric side, and a whole heap-of-deep vibes were the order of the day. If you shut your eyes for a second, you might have thought you were in Panorama Bar. It's hard to pick one track in particular that symbolized the day, of course, but you could do far worse than Johnny D's "Orbitalife," which was seemingly played at just the right moment by the Frankfurt native. The vibe was so good, in fact, that the techno rolled on well past its 11 PM schedule to the delight of happy heads. Even Jamie Jones made an appearance before his set later that night at Back to Basics. But, as the party wound down to an end, there was a tinge of sadness: Sadly, this was the last of mono_cult's parties down at The Fav. The lads have chosen a more underground venue to fulfill their summer endeavors. Oh. And to answer that question from the beginning: They probably do, but they certainly haven't reached them yet.
