  • On my way to Home nightclub on Saturday night, I had one thought on my mind – “It was about time!” It was about time that Progressive House, and the Australian merchants of that sound, had been given the chance to showcase their outstanding talents in the main room at Home. And I’m talking about REAL Progressive House, not the uplifting trance or the hard house sound that’s been popular of late. The men that were instructed to inform but more importantly amaze the main room were Ben Korbel, Trent Anthony and Declan Lee. And boy did they deliver the goods!! Firstly, I must make special mention of Leah and Andrew James who put solid performances in the Silver Room in the hour I saw of each. Leah filled the room with tunes such as Tarrentella and Redanka’s Mix of Sound 5’s “Hacienda must be Re:built” as well as “Latinstatic”, another Sound 5 production. AJ’s last hour was nothing short of Brilliance either as he dropped tunes like “Island” by Orinoko, “Intensify” by Way Out West and “Inner Sanctuary Pt.3” by Lemon 8. In the main room, Ben, Trent and Declan were about to go head to head to head!! Ben, a DJ who has a progressive edge to his sets, Trent a dark and deep aura and Declan a tough and tribal selection joined together and formed an immaculate 3 hour journey into house music. The mix started with a deeper edge traveling through the dimensions of deep and tribal house with fine cuts such as “Erendira”, “Go Low” and “Put That Record Back On”. The mix then built to the more progressive and uplifting area of house with selections such “The Virus”, “Southside” and the fantastic “Glad I Ate Her”. The track selection in the three hours was second to none and the mixing was again the finest I have seen by Sydney DJ’s. It was by far the greatest performance I have seen by Sydney DJ’s and was World Class for its 3 Hour duration. What else can be said? It was about time that Home displayed the finest DJ’s that Sydney has to offer in the main room for everyone to see. They definitely don’t get the praise that they deserve. A list of some of the tunes that were played during the 3 hour extravaganza can be seen below: DJ Dan – “Put That Record Back On” Halo Varga – “Dark Clouds” The Hush Feat. Leah – “Think” (Hydrogen Rockers Dub) Jerry Bonham – “Erendira” (Michael Anthony Remix) Satoshi Tomeii - "Love In Traffic" (Dark Path Mix) Novaa Project – “Go Low” (Go Deep Mix) New Order – “Crystal” (Bedrock Mix) Mutiny - “The Virus” (King Unique Mix) Cass & Slide – “Glad I Ate Her” Sonic Infusion – “Reformatted” Ananda Project – “Falling For You” (G-Pal Mix) G-Pal – “Life” Bedrock – “Heaven Scent” (POB Dub) Moby – “Southside” (Pete Heller Remix) Schiller – “Ruhe” (Tom Middleton Mix) Shapeshifter – “Flood” Tijuana – “Groove Is In The Air” (Simon Pearson Mix) Kosheen – “Hide U” (John Creamer & Stephane K Mix) Accadia – “Into The Dawn” (James Holden Mix)
