It isn’t your typical run of the mill cheesy 'chill-out' album, but a series of warming tracks that can be classified as ambient, chill-out, relaxing, etc. It starts off with some very atmospheric noises and the first track, 'Time On My Hands' by Soku feat. Jess Okoro does nothing but set the awesome stage for this ear pleasing compilation. Bluefish's 'Two' continues to build a very fresh and easy-listening platform for the rest of the album to stand on.
Stef, Pako and Frederik produced this classic next track, the 'Evolutions Ambient Seagull' mix of their 'Seaside Atmosphere' collaboration, which was used on Sasha and John Digweed's Northern Exposure: Expeditions. It’s a great track that features some ambient seagull like sounds creating that oceanic feel. The sound then slides over to the 'Atlantic Break(er)s' Mix of 'Western Approaches, another Pako and Federik track, which helps put the final touches on the quality start to this ambient release as its progression begins to unfold.
Following up is Traffik with the 'I'm Dark Calm Electric' remix of 'Your Light', together with the Forth's 'Solavox', bringing the tempo up a little hitting all the right spots, just to make sure you know this album is going to be one that stays in your CD stacker for all those pre and post clubbing moments.
'Skyline' by the Digital Monkeys keeps it going with some nice ambient beats and although the track was produced in 1999 it has held up fairly well over time. Forth keeps it moving with his second tune on this album, 'Secret Silence', a minimalist style track that was featured on Nick Warren’s GU:011.
The next two tracks, both produced by Pink Bomb help finish off this Compilation with a little bit more of relaxing side. 'Amsterdam At Night' prominently features some soothing piano chords before 'Requiem' takes over with its very chilled-out vocal beats take it down one last step.
'The Perfume Suite' by Traffik finishes of the album just giving it that little bit of extra life that it needed to end this quality session on a lifting high note.
When it comes down to it, this is something for everyone. Why? Because there is always that moment in the darkest coldest of winter seasons, at your relaxing pre-event setting, in the car on that long drive to wherever, in the aftermath a huge night out, whatever - this album is just perfectly fitting to those occasions when you need something that isn’t demanding to listen too, that doesn’t require your attention, that lets you just relax.
