- Here is one of those rarities where the A-side isn't strictly the bomb. Though frontrunner "Cable" grinds on a grungy bass growl and acidic scaling melody made right for those deep-pitched late-night floor stomping, main-room minimal soundscapes, the track seems little more than slow, meditative and thumb-twiddling stagnant. At least compared to punchy, percussive groove-fest that is "Aero."
Every aspect of "Aero" is hard to digest in a single listen—bouncing toms, rim shots, snake-charming flute, crowd noise and old Detroit tech "Strings of Life"-esque piano-organ. Layers are added and subtracted in such a way that it sounds almost like an improvising jazz quartet, creating a tune that'll sound just a little bit different every time you hear it.
As a result, digital bonus "Divine" becomes little more than an afterthought; determined driving tech-house with a portion more pace than its EP brothers. "Divine" gets lost against "Aero," a track that stands as a prime example of Safras' tangent into more "intelligent" dance music. With the B-side, you can hear the Greek producer refining his sound in a way similar to Villalobos—opting for subtly sequenced grooves and a host of ideas, all playing off each other to create a moving musical procession.
