Django – Pollen/Come On

  • Maybe not a familiar name to most, however Django has worked as sound engineer for artists such as Bent Coppa, drum’n’bass act Sub Erb & Kaos and is also part of Grand Central’s Beat Freaks. He’s found the time to compose a couple of breaks tracks in the form of Pollen and Come On. Side A. Pollen Very techy breaks with a stabby bass drum sound. It’s highly melodic with frequent changes to the synth line, synth samples and texture – starting off slightly minimal then moving to a thick, dense sound. The breakbeats get louder and more furious as the track goes on. Head fuck kinda shit whilst paying homage to the old-skool. Side AA. Come On Come On is tech-breaks for those chilled sessions with its slightly dark and sinister feel. Django keeps things melodic with a bass line and melody which seem to work well with each other. Good use of drops and some interesting drum breaks to keep the heads in check. For those out there into the Stisch sound then this is for you – intelligent breaks to make you think, slightly chilled in some sense as well. For the dancefloor DJ’s out there, you may wish to avoid this.
