  • Those looking to find experimental house, techno or dubstep in Warsaw need to dig deep. 1500m2 Do Wynajęcia is currently one of the few main clubs pushing underground electronic music in the city. So far in 2011 it's hosted sets from the likes of Surgeon, George FitzGerald, Tale Of Us, Deadboy, Lone and Jackmaster. More recently the crowd at 1500m2 had the opportunity to dance to the music of Pearson Sound and Blawan, representatives of London-based label Hessle Audio. 1500 m2 is located in Warsaw's city centre, close to the Vistula river. The club is hidden amongst a block of apartments and shops, and definitely doesn't provoke awe and excitement from the outside. The club is L-shaped and contains two rooms, one big one small, the latter of which housed the Hessle Audio party. The evening kicked off rather peacefully and until midnight remained relatively empty. One must bear in mind that Hessle Audio doesn't automatically ring a bell with clubbers in Warsaw as it would in some other cities, therefore a smaller dance floor was perfectly tailored for the crowd that Saturday night. After a smooth warm-up from local jock DJS, Pearson Sound, AKA David Kennedy, appeared behind the decks at around 1:00 AM. The Hessle Audio co-founder proceeded to spin an intriguing selection of dubplates, mostly house with a UK garage twist. Later on, it was good to also hear more recognizable tracks like "Riding With Death" by Zomby alongside Joy O and Boddika's well-worn "Swims." The crowd certainly responded most enthusiastically when the Londoner dropped hits, as was the case when Kennedy dropped his delightful refix of Hardrive's "Deep Inside." When Blawan took over close to 3:00 AM the mood in the room immediately changed. Pearson Sound had thrown in a number of particularly melodic tunes towards the end of his slot, but, despite this, at some point his set lost momentum. The hour was late and the crowd clearly needed more adrenaline, which is precisely what Blawan's opening tracks offered up. The Englishman put those still on the floor back on their feet, playing several tracks from his Bohla EP and "Getting Me Down," as one might have expected garnered a huge reaction, the tail-end of his set bringing the night to a satisfying close.
