Warp20 tracklistings confirmed

Purchasers of their anniversary box set will be treated to exclusive tracks from Boards Of Canada, Plaid, Broadcast and Flying Lotus.

Warp Records have today confirmed the tracklistings for their 20th anniversary box set.

As we reported previously, the compilation will be spread over five CDs and five 10-inch vinyls, with plenty of previously unreleased material. Three of the 10-inch plates will contain work that will only ever be found on this release, with eleven exclusive tracks from the likes of Boards of Canada, Plaid, Flying Lotus, Broadcast, Clark and Nightmares on Wax. The original plan for the other two pieces of wax was to have four sides of classic loops from Warp's back catalogue set into locked grooves, but Warp have now decided to package these as single-sided etched vinyl instead. Fans that would've rather had more loops than an etching shouldn't worry, as Warp have states that they will include the same number of loops as originally intended.

Things get really interesting when you take a glance at the tracklisting for the double CD remix collection, which contains twenty specially commissioned remixes and reinterpretations of Warp tracks by their current roster. We haven't had a chance to listen to any of them as this point, but with Luke Vibert taking on "LFO," Plaid reworking Plone's twee retro-futurism, and Rustie crunking up The Elektroids' "Midnight Drive," we're sure that it'll be bound to raise more than a few eyebrows when it sees the light of day.

Tue, 07 Jul 2009The as chosen by fans selections - which are pretty indicative of how much the average person differs from my own taste - are mostly redeemed by the rest of the box sets inclusions. Still I don't really know why they allowed part of this monumental release (or so they would have it) to go to 'the fans'. There are so many great older tracks that these 'fans' obviously were too young to have had the chance to hear. Where's anything off of Tri Repetae, Amber, Stay Down, Hard Normal Daddy or the... More

Sat, 04 Jul 2009For me, the first disc was incredibly disappointing. Where are things like Broadcast's 'Come On Let's Go,' or anything off the fantastic The Other People Place record? Far too many obvious selections, and there could have been better picks from the Warp big guns as well. Still, looks like the rest of the package will make up for that.

The first disc was voted by fans (Unfortunately I didn't knew anything about it till it was over) and Broadcast's come on let's go almost made it at #17.... More

Fri, 03 Jul 2009Ordered mine, and I'm really looking forward to getting hold of those endless loops.
The Osymyso edit should be pretty sweet as well I think.

Fri, 03 Jul 2009I wouldn't mind dropping the big buck for a vinyl version of these ones. Hope they do release them on vinyl, it's sad enough for me that Flying Lotus - Tea Leaf Dancers didn't made it to the tracklist.
