- The UK group, now a trio with the addition of Oliver Knowles, will release a new album in February.
The second LP from Snow Ghosts, A Wrecking, is due out on Houndstooth in February.
A Wrecking is the follow-up to A Small Murmuration, the 2013 album produced by what was then the duo of Ross Tones (AKA Throwing Snow) and vocalist Hanna Cartwright (AKA Augustus Ghost). Earlier this year they welcomed multi-instrumentalist Oliver Knowles into the group, and together they've crafted a record similarly inspired by British folklore.
This time there's a nautical theme to go with the off-kilter set of songs. Described in a press release as "less focused on rhythm and more on melody and instrumentation," A Wrecking was recorded on-site at a handful of locations, including Chesil Beach in Dorset—an area prone to shipwrecks—and "a deserted bank vault." Snow Ghosts reportedly consider those spaces "like our fourth member." You can stream the album's first single, "Bowline," below.
