- Made Event have announced details of a new electronic music festival for New York City, Electric Zoo. Armin Van Buuren and David Guetta are set to headline the two-day festival, which will be held over Labor Day weekend on Randall's Island. Also included in the initial lineup announcement? Richie Hawtin, Luciano, Steve Bug, LCD Soundsystem's James Murphy and James Mahoney and a rare US appearance for Border Community label boss James Holden among many others. In all, more than 50 acts are promised to play "across multiple stages, covering all genres; House, Techno, Trance, Electro, and Indie, including DJs and live acts." Despite being regarded as one of the world's largest markets for electronic music, New York has had a history of festival failures, the most recent of which, Minitek, was plagued by mismanagement and miscommunication. With Made Event—a promotions group responsible for more than 400 events in New York and Miami—it stands to reason that mismanagement won't be something to worry about when heading over to Randall's Island over Labbor Day weekend.
