- The English electro and techno label will celebrate their first decade with a limited edition 2x12" vinyl set.
Ai Records is set to commemorate their first ten years of operation with a set of two lavishly packaged double-packs, entitled When I Was Ten.
The label has seen it fit to showcase a fair few different styles during its period of service, and Ai is again set to demonstrate its diversity on this release. Ten acts on its roster will each have one of their unreleased tracks featured on the set (which is strictly limited to 200 copies), with highlights including Najem Sworb's charging dub techno, raw electro from Pathic, Sinner DC's emotive microhouse, and swelling ambience from Mike Manning.
The artwork has always been a big focus for Ai on every release, and that's set to continue with When I Was Ten. Indeed, the packaging for this release took almost a year to put together, as each producer was asked to explain what they wanted to be when they were ten to a designer, who then completed that particular artist's cover design based on their ideas. There are a total of five different versions of the 2x12" set, each with a different selection of four images from the ten originally commissioned designs. The vinyl release is currently being sold directly from the Ai Records site at a price of £35 for UK buyers, while the CD will hit retailers next month.
