Next year's edition of the Spanish festival will take place simultaneously in both Barcelona and A Coruña.
In celebration of the Xacobeo Jubilee Year, the organisers behind the seventh installment of the annual gathering are focusing in on the Galician city of A Coruña, in homage to the Way of St. James, the Christian pilgrimage which dates back over 1000 years. The one-off event in the northern Spanish city will roll with the title Sónar Galicia, and—much like its Catalan cousin—will split its program between Sónar by Day and Sónar by Night with the usual soundtrack of bleeding-edge electronics.
Meanwhile the visual pillar of the event arrives in the form of a full-length feature film (of which you can view a preview here). Finisterre includes six chapters and an epilogue based on the event's association with Galicia, examining th "introspective journey undertaken by two ghosts who during Sónar 2009 decided to travel along the Way of Saint James to the end of the world."
