Oneman will be the latest artist to contribute to Rinse's mix series next month.
The Londoner has risen through the DJing ranks of dubstep via his quick-fire approach to playing records as well as his refined and diverse tune selection, and Rinse 11 looks to showcase both sides of the DJ's sound over the course of its 27-track duration. Oneman—real name Steve Bishop—was picked up by the radio wing of Rinse last year, and has used both his radio show and the mix to adjust expectations of his DJing style. "The opening tune on the mix [Double Helix's "96 Flavas (No More Games)"] is a bit of a statement from me," he explains. "You gotta move forward though, this CD is a selection of what I like now. I don't wanna get stuck as that guy that plays garage, I'm moving on."
Rinse 11 is indeed heavy on tracks from the past year, and includes twisted UK funky cuts from Kode9, Martyn, R1 Ryders and Sticky, kaleidoscopic wonky courtesy of Joker and 2000F & J Kamata, and plenty of other sub-heavy dance floor anthems from Zomby, Breakage, Shortstuff, Deadboy and Modeselektor.
