- The French producer will return to Boxer Recordings for his sophomore album, due for release in April.
Matzak will follow up last year's 12-inch on Kompakt Extra with his second full-length release.
The Frenchman, real name Nicolas Matuszczak, kicked off his recording career with a melodic tech-house sound similar to the Border Community tracks that were ubiquitous at the time, but the last couple of years have seen the producer expand his sound, going ravey for Vitalic's Citizen imprint and adopting a moody ethnic style on 2008's "African Roots." Forthcoming album Bring Me The Moon sees Matuszczak take his biggest stylistic leap yet, incorporating vocals from Californian chanteuse Tori and fellow French band Sourya onto three of album's ten tracks. There's even an appearance from hip-hop troupe Forensic on the Skeletor-referencing "Not Safe For Work," which combines the group's relentlessly rolling vocals with Matzak's strutting beat and plinking synths. The mood of the album is diverse, ranging from the atmopheric clubby sound that he made his name with to jaunty techno-pop and hopeful string-soaked minimalism.
