  • Hrdvsion will unveil his first full-length release in eight years this May. Most of you will know him as the brother of Wagon Repair boss Mathew Jonson, but Nathan's music is a far cry from the slick locomotive techno that his sibling has made his name with. The Hrdvsion sound is rougher and more glitchy, often with nastier overtones, and this carries over into the work on Where Did You Just Go?, his first album on Wagon Repair. 2002's 25 Cents LP saw Jonson toy with ambient and jungle, but his second full-length mostly focuses on the sound that he's been honing throughout the second half of the last decade. Of the title, Jonson explains, "'Where did you just go?' is something my girlfriend often says to me when she's talking to me and I kind of drift off. I'll be talking to her then just stop all of a sudden. I think the title reflects me and my music well; there's this idea of going in one direction then suddenly pausing to dream about a completely different place..." His wandering mental state is showcased in the diversity of the record, taking electro, techno and minimal and morphing them into his own slightly deranged style. Fans of bass-heavy styles should also take note, as the twitchy soca-tinged "Betrayed" should cross over well with DJs currently occupying the space between dubstep and UK funky, and "Kiss Yesterday" even carries off a cosmic dubstep vibe that comes across as a minimalist take on the likes of Joker and Jamie Vex'd.
