- Bearfunk will release the Dutch producer's debut album later this month.
Roberto Auser will release his debut album, Secret Carnaval, later this month on Bear Funk.
So far, the Rotterdam-based producer has only a handful of tracks under his belt, including a tune on Innervisions' Secret Weapons (Part 2) EP and a 12-inch on Nature Records from 2008. For his first full-length, Auser has taken a very conceptual approach, musically imagining a world he calls Ausland. The background story for the record goes something like this:
"Centuries ago all birds and wildlife in Ausland were killed when a full moon and a virus containing the hybrid predecessor of H1N5 bird flu met each other in the hands of a Gypsy scientist. Since that day music has become the essential fabric of the nation. Emulating and synthesizing natural bird and animal sounds it provides an escape into the wild."
As this little yarn suggests, Secret Carnaval is a very cinematic record, with vivid imagery often complementing Auser's disco-inflected beats. All of its 22 tracks are previously unreleased, and will be available digitally as well as in a double-CD package.
