The new cans will sit alongside the already established XD-53s as a mid-priced alternative.
With Allen & Heath's XD-53s apparently finding favour with the likes of John Digweed, Ralph Lawson and Chris Liebing, the XD-40s will hope to pick up on some of that momentum, albeit at a somewhat lower price point of £66.67 + VAT. The XD-40s offer a frequency response of 15Hz-28kHz in a lightweight 220g package, with "excellent audio fidelity," 40mm neodymium drivers, 40 ohm impedance and 103dB sensitivity also on the table. And to combat the most common DJ headphone complaint of them all—snapping the damn things—Allen & Heath have opted for a 90 degree angle swivel earpiece.
Allen & Heath's XD-40s will be available from April 2010 at a suggested retail price of £66.67 + VAT.
