- Ghostly International will release the Toronto-based artist's fifth album this spring.
Jason Amm, AKA Solvent, will release his fifth album this May on Ghostly International.
Subject to Shift will be Amm's first album in nearly six years, following 2004's Apples and Synthesizers. The one-man synth-pop band has stayed busy in the meantime, releasing two compilations and a half-dozen singles on Ghostly International, Lo Dubs and his own Suction Records. On Subject to Shift, Amm goes a bit deeper and darker than before, dwelling in more somber moods and using his beloved vocoder less than on past records. Nonetheless, he still finds room for the glistening melodies and tinge of romance that's characterized much of his catalog so far. In addition to the CD and digital version, Subject to Shift will be available as a double-vinyl package.
The new album will be preceded by a digital single, Loss for Words, slated for release on April 20th. In addition to the original track, Loss for Words will feature a remix by Vector Lovers as well as a rework by Solvent himself.
