Starting this month, the Cologne-based outfit will sell limited edition records exclusively through their website.
The first batch of releases will introduce three new Kompakt labels: RAR, Kompakt Klassiks and Protest. RAR's first EP features reworks of Gus Gus and Jurgen Paape by Ada, Mugwump and Michael Mayer, while Kompakt Klassiks kicks off with Las Vegas 2010, a reissue of Jorg Burger and Wolfgang Voigt's 1998 full-length, previously available on Matador. Protest is a new sub-label of Profan, Voigt's recently revived experimental imprint, and promises idiosyncratic "music of tomorrow." Considering its first 12-inch is named after 19th century composers Robert Schumann and Clara Wieck, one can only expect classical-electronic musings ala Gas or Sog.
The new platform will also release Freiland Geduld, an extraction from Voigt's recent Freiland Klaviermusik complete with a remix by DJ Koze. The EP will be signed, hand-painted, and limited to 175 copies. You can also expect a teaser EP for the upcoming Total 11 compilation, featuring tracks by Maxime Dangles and Matias Aguayo.
