  • Sydney club night is set to host Instra:mental and Deadbeat in July, with the artists both scheduled to play separate dates. Instra:mental will be bringing a mixed bag of drum & bass and dubstep when he tours next month. This year has arguably been the producer's biggest yet, having co-mixed the acclaimed FabricLive.50 in February. Since then, the UK native has been riding a wave of success that has taken him all over the world, playing numerous high-profile slots across Europe and North America. While his sound as a DJ may be deeply rooted in drum & bass, Instra:mental's musical scope is broad. As such, he's just at home spinning alongside the London dubstep collective in fabric's Room 2 as he is co-headlining a Phonica Records party with French house jock I:Cube. Deadbeat will be bringing a more traditional 4/4 sound. Since the Canadian-born producer was last in Sydney, he's released a string of well-received singles, most them within dub techno territory. His minimal approach to techno has landed him spots on a variety of labels, ranging from the likes of club-friendly Wagon Repair imprint, right through to the more experimental US label The Architecture. Instra:mental will kick Index's July off with a set on 9th, with Deadbeat's appearance to follow on the 23rd. Both parties will go down at Oxford St's suitably cozy Phoenix Bar.
