- Gomma will release the Belgian duo's next album this fall.
The Glimmers will release their next album, Whomp That Sucker, this October on the German label Gomma.
The Belgian duo's sound to date has been a blend of dance punk, electro, house and techno, as showcased in their own productions as well as their editions of DJ Kicks and Fabriclive. Most of their songs so far have featured live drums, guitar, synths and vocals, but on Whomp That Sucker, the pair try out a very different approach: "This time there are no musicians involved," say members David Fouquaert and Mo Becha. "Nothing is recorded live. No guest appearances, no pop or rock stars on vocals, no hype. This time we only serve pure discoid house beats, analogue synths, bleeps, bass and FX and a few gimmicks here and there..."
The record will be The Glimmers' third album to date, following The Glimmers Are Gee Gee Fazzi, originally given away only at the group's DJ gigs, and The Glimmers Present Disko Drunkards, their heavily retro full-length from last summer. Whomp That Sucker will mark the duo's first release on a label other than the Belgian imprint Eskimo Recordings.
