  • The first of Melbourne's New Year's Eve events has been announced, with DJ Harvey booked to headline House deFrost. DJ Harvey is one of the most recognised faces in disco today. Born in Cambridge, 80 kilometres north-east of London, Bassett cut his musical teeth drumming for a local punk band. His introduction to DJing came with a trip to New York in the '80s, where he was exposed to the growing hip-hop movement. Upon his return to England, Bassett immersed himself in the disco and garage scene, and by 1990 had established himself as one of the genre's leading DJs. Since then, his reputation hasn't faltered in the slightest, remaining one of disco's visible identities. House deFrost has been largely responsible for flying Melbourne's disco flag for a while now. The last couple of month has seen the party – helmed by local DJ Andee Frost – play host to several well-known acts, with Trevor Jackson and Holy Ghost! among the names to have departed Melbourne with happy faces.
