The festival will bring Steve Reich, The Glimmers, Lee 'Scratch' Perry and more to Norway over the next ten days.
This year's edition of the Numusic Festival will begin tomorrow in Stavanger, bringing an eclectic cast of DJs and live performers to the southwest coast of Norway.
Numusic will take place at various venues around the the city, including clubs and cultural centers as well as Stavanger Domkirke, Norway's oldest cathedral. Over the course of its ten day program, the festival will present a mixture of experimental, electronic, rock and hip-hop acts, with headlining performances New York minimalist Steve Reich and dub reggae god Lee 'Scratch' Perry among others. Subheavy sounds will come courtesy of Loefah and Digital Mystikz, and Belgium's Aeroplane will provide a bit of disco flavor. On the krautrock tip, the music of Neu! will be performed by former band member Michael Rother and a group that includes Sonic Youth drummer Steve Shelley. A raft of Norwegian acts will appear as well, including Annie, Datarock, Ost & Kjex, Skatebard and The Whitest Boy Alive. Proceedings kick off tomorrow night and end next Saturday with a show where Mount Kimbie will open for '90s Warp outfit Anti-Pop Consortium and Grandmaster Flash.
