- The former Kid Creole and the Coconuts member will release a new album through Rong Music next month.
Coati Mundi will release Dancing for The Cabana Code in The Land of Boo-Hoo in October, his first album in nearly 20 years.
After putting out his No More Blues 12-inch in the middle of last year, New York's Rong Music are set to release this full-length offering from Andy Hernandez, AKA Coati Mundi. The veteran LA-based performer was a vibraphonist and founding member of Dr. Buzzard's Original Savannah Band, and played with and musically directed Kid Creole And The Coconuts. Dancing for The Cabana... is said to have been composed by Mundi and UK producer E-Love in tandem, with Lee Douglas (who himself has released numerous 12-inches through Rong) also on production duties as well as taking care of the album's playful cover art.
Of the album's 11 tracks, eight are previously unreleased with all three cuts from No More Blues making the grade. The press surrounding Dancing for The Cabana... describes it as a "deliriously genre-spanning (disco, salsa, samba, funk), multilingual, electro-infused dance album" which doesn't seem too implausible if the aforementioned primer tracks were anything to go by.
