  • Tapeworm, a cassette-only label based in the UK, is set to release a new full-length that shows Stefan Goldmann reinterpreting music by Christian Fennesz, entitled Remiksz. Both artists debuted on Tapeworm earlier this year—Goldmann with Haven't I Seen You Before and Fennesz with Szampler. For the latter cassette, Fennesz rooted through samples on his Ensoniq EPS-16 Plus and ASR-10 samplers, both of which he used for live performances between 1989 and 1996. Though experimental guitar is usually his forte, Boomkat and The Wire described Szampler as unmistakably Fennesz, thanks in part to fragments that also made it into Fennesz's albums, including Endless Summer. Remiksz shows Goldmann meticulously rebuilding Szampler from the ground up. According to liner notes written by the Berlin-based producer himself, the process involved "erasing Christian Fennesz's original samples one by one and replacing them with corresponding samples of his own, made between 1999-2010 for his Akai S5000 sampler, in the same sequence." The cassette is roughly an hour in length, and will see a limited release of 250 units. Tracklist Side A Side B Tapeworm will release Goldmann vs Fennesz: Remiksz in November 2010.
