  • Sydney electronic hip-hip artist Monk Fly, AKA Chris Hancock, will be spinning at Tone tomorrow night. Hancock has been one of the driving forces behind Sydney's broken beat community for several years now. As a producer, label manager and DJ, he's spent most of the '00s pushing his distortion-heavy blend of music under The Frequency Lab banner. As a label, The Frequency Lab has been keeping Sydney on the international bass map since the turn of the century, hosting releases from an array of local and international bass artists. The next release in line is Hancock's own, the Streetisms Vol. 2 EP, so this week's party will act as the launch. The party will give fans a rare chance to catch Hancock in headline mode in Sydney, as recently his local appearances have generally been either opening or closing sets. It'll all be going down at Tone from 10:00 PM. Support-wise, fellow Lab signee Jonny Faith and Space Is the Place boss Prize head up the cast.
