  • According to Spin, Australian synthpop outfit Cut Copy will release their third album, Zonoscope, in February on Modular Recordings. Cut Copy have become a crossover favorite since their debut ten years ago. While their guitar-driven, new-wave inspired sound wooed indie kids the world over, the group also flexed their club muscles with their synth-heavy early singles and their FabricLive.29 mix. According to band member Tim Hoey, Zonoscope shows them further perfecting this balancing act: "We certainly are using all sorts of electronic instruments, more synthesizers, computers, all of that, but contrasted with more organic sounds, more organic percussion." Zonoscope will be Cut Copy's first album since In Ghost Colours, their breakthrough record from 2008. The only taste of the album so far has been the track "Where I'm Going," released earlier this year as a free download and limited edition 7-inch. Though some found that tune surprisingly rock-influenced, the band say a different, "less pop" version will feature on the album. Details on the tracklist are still forthcoming, and will be posted here as soon as they become available. Tracklist 01. Need You Now 02. Take Me Over 03. Where I'm Going 04. Pharaohs & Pyramids 05.
