- Dan Lissvik from Studio has produced the Canadian indie band's third album.
Quebecois indie outfit Young Galaxy have finished their third album, Shapeshifting, with the help of producer Dan Lissvik from Studio.
Young Galaxy have been around since 2007, playing energetic indie rock with New Order-inspired flair. Shapeshifting shows a slightly different side of the group, with more focus on atmosphere and electronic sounds. This is thanks in part to studio work by Lissvik, a Swedish artist best known for his Balearic-tinged records with Rasmus Haegg as Studio. After Young Galaxy finished the album in Montreal, they sent the files over to Lissvik, who reportedly spent nine months tinkering with them at his studio in Gothenberg. The result is a marriage of Young Galaxy's peppy indie rock sound and Lissvik's breezier, synth-laden grooves. The album will be the band's debut on Paper Bag Records, a Toronto-based imprint whose catalog includes Plastikman's Closer and albums by Stars and Broken Social Scene.
