The Drake Underground will host the Detroit producer this coming Thursday evening.
"Galapagos is an effort between DMoney, The Faktory, 92 bpm & The Drake Underground to put a spotlight on the more interesting side of electronic music," reads the PR surrounding the upcoming party, which is Galapagos' fifth yet. Well, you could certainly class their headliner, Detroit's Kyle Hall, as "interesting." The young producer's output for labels such as FXHE, Third Ear, Hyperdub and his own Wild Oats has been among the most idiosyncratic and forward-thinking not only in Detroit, but the entire house and techno scene over the past few years.
In keeping with the approach of his Motor City forefathers, Hall's DJing spans a vast range of club-rooted sounds, so expect him to deviate frequently from the house and techno styles with which he's made his name. Local support on the night comes from mymanhenri and Dougie Boom.
