Audio Damage have just announced the release of their newest VST/AU, Phosphor.
For Audio Damage's latest plug-in offering they've taken a look back to very beginning of software synthesis. Phosphor is modeled on alphaSyntauri, which back in 1980 became the first synth to run off a home computer (the Apple //e), making it, in theory, the very first soft synth.
The original alphaSyntauri was a digital additive synth. Audio Damage have apparently fashioned a faithful recreation, although features such as tempo-synced LFOs and delays, a modulation section and full ADSR envelopes on both of its oscillators bring the design into the 21st century. The oscillators, along with noise, can be configured to the original alphaSyntauri resolutions for a classic lo-fi effect, or alternatively run at modern sample rates. Also included is a total of 80 presets.
