- The mysterious NonPlus+ outfit have a full-length ready for release.
Late next month, NonPlus+ will release the first album by mysterious UK outfit Lol, entitled Me Me.
The members of lol have are keeping their identities under wraps, though a press release describes them as "three bored people who like music that sounds like it did before the advent of the internet." Aside from its thudding dubstep beats, their debut album sounds like the work of the band: all the tracks are built on pop song structures and feature lead female vocals. In keeping with the pre-internet ethos, the album was recorded using dated technology like VHS tapes and valve microphones from the '70s, as well as drum machines and analog synths. As you might have guessed, the group's name is itself a comment on the internet age, where "lol" means "laugh out loud" rather than the older (and more heartfelt) "lots of love."
Me Me follows two 12-inches from lol, also released on NonPlus+. The album features all of the tracks from those records, plus two that are previously unreleased.
