  • Berlin's Arena club has been closed until March 10. A notice on the venue's website has cited "urgent renovation measures" as the reason behind the closure, though this seems odd given the timing of the cancellations (hours before a weekend's worth of events) and the fact that Badeschiff (the swimming pool owned by Arena) has also been forced to close its doors. Some artists and promoters affected by the incident point to city intervention as a more likely cause of trouble. Although it gives no firm details, the official announcement (which you can read in full below) states that all upcoming events at the club will be moved to alternate locations within Arena's immediate vicinity. Berlin's Sweatlodge Agency were due to stage their fourth anniversary celebrations at the venue this past Saturday, although the party was shifted to Hoppetosse, Arena's restaurant/club on the Spree.
"Due to urgent renovation measures that must be taken without delay, we are unfortunately unable to permit any club events in the Arenaclub through the 10th of March. Despite this, our scheduled parties will still take place, but will occur in the locations within the immediate vicinity of the Arenaclub. We will provide you with more information through the Arenaclub-Homepage, through Facebook, and via Newsletter and on site. We are sorry that this information has come so suddenly - we ourselves have been caught by surprise and will make sure that we can get our venue running as soon as possible again."
