  • Washington, DC's U Street Music Hall will host Berlin-based house DJ Jesse Rose this Thursday to celebrate their one-year anniversary. From the start, the club casually known as U Hall has been all about the music, with the focus on a powerful soundsystem and a proper dance floor. It has earned praise for its down-to-earth approach (no dress code, no party photographers, no VIP areas and no bottle service) and for moving quickly to combat drunken misbehavior. Since the opening night with Aeroplane last year, U Hall has hosted a wealth of popular artists (both DJ's and live performances) from across the electronic music spectrum, including Richie Hawtin, Mark Farina and Pantha Du Prince. Thursday night will feature the return of three artists who have become club favorites after previous appearances. Rose headlines the party, joined by Dirtybird artist Justin Martin and local duo Nadastrom. Word has it that the club will host parties later this year featuring Soul Clap, Wolf + Lamb and Theo Parrish, but for now, house and techno heads can look forward to confirmed U Hall appearances from Daniel Bell and Octave One later this month as part of the city's Forward Festival.
