- Touch will release the third collaborative record by the two experimental artists in December.
Christian Fennesz and Ryuichi Sakamoto have a new album due out in December called Flumina.
Both artists make contemplative experimental music that combines traditional instruments and modern production methods. A founding member of Yellow Magic Orchestra, Sakamoto mostly restricts himself to the piano these days, except when he's sharing the studio with someone like Alva Noto or Christopher Willits. Fennesz is known for making hazy walls of sound with electric guitar and production software, most notably on the celebrated 2001 album Endless Summer. Flumina will be the duo's third collaborative work yet, after Sala Santa Cecilia and Cendre. The two-disc album has been available in Japan since August, but will see wide release via Touch, a UK label that's put out numerous records by both artists in the past. You can stream or download the first track over at Pitchfork.
