  • Varoslav will launch his own solo imprint, Rue de Plaisance, next month with a record from David K. After four years of working alongside Guy Gerber as an A&R for Supplement Facts, the Czech-born artist has decided to set up his own record label and art project. Set to span "everything from experimental house to funked-up techno," Rue De Plaisance will also be used as a graphic outlet, with the first 300 vinyl presses of each release due to be accompanied by specially commissioned artwork. "Rue De Plaisance is where I live and produce my music," explains Varoslav. "I created this label to bring together my artist friends and, at the same time, to promote electronic music and try to save vinyl's existence. I have been a collector for 15 years and vinyl has, in my opinion, a very important place in this culture, even if digital culture has also become essential." Releases will be a mixture of both Varoslav's own productions and those of close friends, with a focus on unique collaborations and remixes. The label's first release comes from David K and features a rare vocal appearance from Nouvelle Vague member Opium. The record, entitled Somewhere In My Head will also be backed by remixes from Deetron and Varoslav himself, and is due out in September.
