  • Native Instruments have unveiled details of their latest DJ system, the Traktor Kontrol S2. The S2 offers much the same feature set as its older sibling, the S4, within a more compact hardware frame. Designed to operate NI's included Traktor Pro 2 software, the S2 again brings sample decks to the table, allowing the user to utilize up to eight loops or one-shot samples, beat-synced to the unit's output. An integrated 24bit/96 kHz sound card comes with dual stereo outputs, while the S2 will carry forward the S4's cueing, looping and FX capabilities. In keeping with the emphasis on portability, the S2 will also feature the same plug-and-play configuration. The below video shows Ean Golden creating a live dubstep remix of Depeche Mode's "Enjoy The Silence" (yes, you read that right) on the S2, highlighting in particular the unit's sample decks.
Native Instruments will release the Traktor Kontrol S2 in October 2011 at a suggested retail price of $669/ €599.
