Workshops and musical events will take place in ten cities leading up to this year's academy in Madrid.
Red Bull Music Academy have outlined details for their first world tour, taking place from the end of August through October.
The tour will bring RBMA's trademark combination of tutorials, parties and concerts to ten different cities around the world, each with a unique program. Cape Town hosts the first event, where a collection of local and international artists will build and then play on a newly constructed soundsystem. In Berlin, students will attend workshops at Hansa Studios, home of albums like David Bowie's Low and Iggy Pop's Lust For Life, and hear performances by Moritz von Oswald, Mano Le Tough and Radio Slave.
New York's stop on the tour will pay homage to the city's hip-hop roots, with lectures on (and performances by) Wu-Tang Clan, Mobb Deep and Slick Rick. Rome's will be all about film soundtracks, from horror to spaghetti westerns. Melbourne's will explore the place where "the audible and visual collide." Other participating cities include Paris, Detroit and Toronto.
You can read full descriptions of each city's program on the tour's official website.
